Yoga Chikitsa Class (Strathalbyn) - Casual
Yoga Chikitsa is a unique form of practice.
The focus is healing , the result is regenerative and enlivening outcomes.
WHY DO THEY WORK SO WONDERFULLY FOR PEOPLE
Because we are encouraged to slow down. To Press the pause button on all the driven, pushy habits of the mind. AND to bring the breath into focus as our most powerful healing force. The classes extend to life skills with the power to bring beautiful change.
WHO ARE THE CLASSES FOR
Anybody and everybody with an interest in experiencing yoga in its essence and as it is intended to work. There is no need to be able to twist and bend like a gymnast, just a willingness to find your way into your body through the breath and discover how the body works, repairs and vitalizes. Yogas understanding of our physiology and psychology and the relationship between the two is next level and very real.
YOGA TEACHERS
Many yoga teachers attend. They find it gives them permission to take the pressure out of their own practice and the way they teach. They discover ways to meet the very real needs of the real people who seek out yoga practice for their own wellbeing. They learn new skills, and gain a deeper understanding of how yoga works.
WHAT IS A CLASS LIKE?
a typical class will include the following-
It begins gently as a 'time in' moment to breathe and meet the body where it is. It brings breath forward and refines its rhythm and benefit. We set the tone and rhythm for the rest of the session.
Simple release methods for the areas of common tension and discomfort in the body. We increase body breath awareness and felt sense within ourselves.
Ways that mobilize and repair the spine and to tone the digestive, nervous and endocrine systems. Also to methods to restore strength, stability and ground.
Simple adapted, accessible standing energy raising practices to activate and move life force (prana). It is the prana that heals
Rest before the next phase of more introverted sustained quiet posture forms to evolve our unity of mind, breath and body while refining prana and connecting with a deeper presence that expresses peace and even bliss.
Finally everyone's favourite Yoga Nidra
followed by a little breathwork, mudra (hand gestures and stillness
Sometimes Sadhana takes the class in a completely different direction depending who is present.
The end result is an integrated delightful state of purity in mind and body.
With regular attendance you will notice the significant shifts this form of practice generate.
