Shantarasa Yoga Darshana delivers  deep and comprehensive trainings in the ‘ Living Path of Yoga’.

Ideally, a well-developed sadhana (living practice) is the precursor to teaching.

Today people are attracted to the study of Yoga Teaching as their entry point.

Often trainees have some experience of various forms of asana practice (physical postures) and may have had little interface with the broader spectrum of yoga practice and its knowledge base. Our trainings seek to bridge this important personal depth for students.

The Shantarasa trainers love introducing trainees and practitioners to a more complete immersion and interface with Yogas intention to educate us as conscious beings. Trainees often express that they receive so much more than they anticipated or expected from the Yoga Teacher Trainings finding its influencereaching into every facet of their lives.

The Shantarasa aim is to equip ‘teachers’ with all the prerequisite skills to safely guide and inspire others. The skills gained far exceed the study of physical postures, extending into the practices and foundational knowledge that inspire a more balanced mind and approach to life.  The physical postures are also given deeper value and meaning. The philosophy of asana enables students to better understand and communicate the unique benefits the asanas generate placing them in a more wholistic context.

The trainings are a combination of study and practice. The study components include lively discussions that invariably touch on all thing’s life related in meaningful and provocative ways. The practices engage an integration of body, breath, mind and awarenes,  facilitating change and expansion. Students find ways to re-contextualise their lives ascribing deeper value and meaning to their choices, directions and purpose.

We invite you to join us in exploring the rich experiential levels and practical wisdom Yoga has to offer. The trainings are offered in incremental stages allowing students to gain the full 500-hour training certificate over time as Yoga Teachers and to continue to develop skill with our specialized areas of post graduate education. The courses are divided into concentrated immersive formats, enabling participants to design their training calendar in a way that best fits their lives and time commitments supported with access to online content for review and additional study. You will find some courses offered in an online format only.

Yoga Chikitsa (Yoga Therapy)

Shantarasa will offer a fully accredited 2-year Yoga Chikitsa (Yoga Therapy) in 2024

Yoga Therapy is wholistic in nature. It modifies and adapts its many avenues of practice to meet the exact needs of an individual. Our symptoms of distress and unease are the language of imbalance. Yoga therapy looks to restore us to our wholeness, harness our natural healing potentials, and awaken our higher intelligence.

The many practices yoga offers, such as asana (postures) geared to cleanse , strengthen and tone the body at the level of organs, tissues, systems and cells; breath work to enhance oxygenation, body cleansing and overall health including methods to calm and balance the nervous system and mind; Pranayama to cultivate prana (vital life force) and direct its flow; yoga nidra (yogic sleep) to reduce stress, increase healing potential and reduce impressions embedded at the root of disturbance; meditation to train an individual toward a calm, focused and strengthened mind, enhancing feelings of enhanced wellbeing while gaining a capacity to abide in stillness and silence as expressions of our essential nature; yoga psychology to better understand the nature of the mind through the yogic lens, its individual nuance and expression, training empowerment and skill at the level of mental tendencies and habits, methods that increase self knowledge and understanding and access higher intelligence; yogic textural reference and study to know the roots and origins of the yogic view and practical philosophies; Ayurveda to access avenues to heal through Vedic medicine and lifestyle approaches; applied and supervised practicum

This offers a brief overview of a profoundly full and complete field of study to develop yoga therapists who can effectively meet the needs of individuals and our times within the scope of their training and in collaboration with other health professionals.
