CLASSES & WORKSHOPS

Shantarasa offers a weekly schedule of classes. The classes serve the range of practitioner levels.

Classes for beginners are offered as ongoing introductory classes offering more instruction and personal assistance and also regular beginner’s courses as an introductory level to practice. These classes may also suit those who have a need and desire to practice in an easy form.

Open classes are for those with some experience. These classes serve those who have moved past the introductory level as well as those committed to an ongoing asana practice. This level is more challenging, requires basic understanding of asana, and introduces an ever increasing range of practice and skill.

Advanced. Our schedule is ever changing to meet the needs of our students. Please check the schedule to see what levels of class are currently being offered. The advanced level of asana practice is only offered to those who have learned the important attitudes that accompany practice to avoid personal injury or an approach that is other than the intent of yoga practice.

‘Do no harm’ is the guiding principle. To attend a more advanced level of class requires discussion with teachers to ascertain readiness. It also requires an ongoing commitment to personal practice. This advanced level is either offered as a regular class or as a series of ongoing asana clinics.

The weekly schedule also offers classes for pre and postnatal care.

On occasion classes for seniors and restorative practice may also be offered, these occur as there is a need in our student community.

Asana classes are also offered outside Shantarasa’s school based in the Adelaide Hills, with weekly classes in the city of Adelaide, and also through various community organisations, aged care facilities, clinics and hospitals, schools and other programs, and through corporate design and invitation.
